About the show:

Experience 22 year old Austin’s first solo show, don’t let his young age put you off, he’s been a stand up since he was 15. After finishing his 3rd Edinburgh Festival last year he was dumped by his girlfriend in Spain, made homeless, hospitalized after a depressed drinking binge, trying to hold down a 32 hour working week, completing his third year at Uni, and trying to coexist with the city of Glasgow, a place with a lower life expectancy than Iraq.

With nothing left to lose Austin made the decision, 2007 would see his first solo stand up show. The dream became reality when the show opened in March at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival. Over 200 people saw it over 4 nights, enjoying the next generation of charismatic, clever, original comedy:

“The most crowd pleasing act of the night…taking familiar set up into new realms” Chortle

 “Actual funny material” Edinburgh Guide

Review:

When Austin Low decided to do a solo Fringe show last year, even he couldn’t have foreseen the calamitous events that would befall him. However, they have turned into comedy gold for him with his new show ‘Tales of an Urban Joker’.

Performing stand-up since he was 15, this spiky ball of energy clearly enjoys being on the stage, and engages the audience with his enjoyable tales of the misery and mishaps that blight him. Low, originally from Aberdeen but now living in Glasgow, spins tales of splitting up with his girlfriend, moving house, and performing routines in front of his parents (all stand-up comedy staples), but his sheer enthusiasm shines through and brings out several loud laugh out loud moments. Though his material sometimes strays a little to the dark side (joking about rohypnol), his enthusiasm, enjoyment and cute but mischievous face let him get away with it.

This guy’s gonna be big some day soon — he’s already writing a children’s show for the BBC — so get on the bandwagon early and go see him.
